Melbourne Airport currently undertakes a variety of mechanisms which we consult with our stakeholders on issues such as planning, noise, safety and environmental impact and with the local community and councils by supporting local initiatives and projects.
Melbourne Airport is currently developing a framework to further strengthen strategic engagement with Government and our community through the development of an Airport Planning Coordination Forum and a Community Aviation Consultation Group.
The Planning Coordination Forum (PCF) will create a regular opportunity for airport and government interests to discuss issues and exchange information regarding all aspects of airport operations including the airport's Master Plan, ground and public transport, roads, land use, policy and the role of the airport.
The independently chaired Community Aviation Consultation Group (CACG) will act as an umbrella forum in which the airport operator will exchange information and ideas with communities in the vicinity of the airport, local business representatives, other airport users and interested parties.
Members will span government agency, union, local council and community members, State and Federal Government. The CACG will ensure the concerns of interested parties can be raised and taken into account by airport operators and a greater level of community understanding of airport operations can be nurtured.
More information on each of these forums will be available on this page as they are implemented.
Further background on the Federal Government directives on aviation planning and community engagement can be found in the 2009 National Aviation White Paper.
