Jetstar to fly daily Melbourne - Singapore services

Jun 09, 2010

Jetstar today announced the airline will be introducing daily services from Melbourne to Singapore from 16 December this year.

The daily services from Jetstar's home in Melbourne will benefit Victorians with over 220,000 additional seats to and from Jetstar Asia's Singapore hub every year.

Welcoming the announcement, Melbourne Airport's CEO Chris Woodruff said: "this is fantastic news for travellers. These daily services will enable people travelling on the extensive Jetstar network in Asia to get here very easily from any one of their multiple Asian destinations. These extra flights will mean more seats at affordable prices and, of course, more flexibility to fly to and from Victoria though this international hub."

This is the latest in a long list of announcements the Qantas Group has made out of Melbourne over the last few months. "Last week Qantas announced it will be progressively increasing A380 services on the London and Los Angeles routes and will be increasing services to Queenstown over the Summer peak.

"Earlier this year, Jetstar increased services to domestic destinations Cairns, Newcastle and the Gold Coast. This July, services to Brisbane will commence alongside increases in services to the Sunshine Coast and Townsville" Mr Woodruff said.

"This steadily growing capacity both in and out of Melbourne is great news for Victoria. We look forward to continuing to work closely with The Qantas Group as they continue to expand."
