Jetstar welcomes 50 millionth passenger at Melbourne

Today Jetstar today welcomed their 50 millionth passenger at Melbourne Airport, an outstanding achievement for the airline.

Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Woodruff said that Jetstar have been instrumental in the growth of tourism in Victoria. "Since commencing services in 2004 Jetstar have made a wonderful contribution to the growth of Melbourne's domestic and international market largely due to their fantastic low fares.

"With services from Melbourne to 12 domestic destinations Jetstar offers flexible travel options within Australia as well as low fares to Bali, Bangkok and Christchurch, putting affordable travel within reach of all Victorians. This increased accessibility has benefited Victorian travellers and played an important role in strengthening travel and tourism links both domestically and overseas."

"Jetstar recently increased services to Cairns and in July will commence services to Brisbane. Melbourne Airport is proud to have Jetstar serving Victorian passengers and we look forward to working with them as they continue to grow."

In addition to the direct international destinations listed above, Jetstar's current domestic destinations direct from Melbourne are Adelaide, Cairns, Darwin, Gold Coast, Hamilton Island, Hobart, Launceston, Maroochydore, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Townsville.
