The garments displayed will begin from the 19th century, exploring the prescriptive codes of etiquette that aligned black with mourning wear, and then trace Black s use in fashion throughout the 20th century. Contemporary video from Latin America considers ideas that have dominated the social and political landscape in recent years: relationships between the individual and the collective; distinctions between regional identities and global perspectives in postcolonial contexts; and the transience and resilience of human existence.
