Since 2015 Melbourne Airport has proudly supported Bansksia Gardens Community Services (Broadmeadows) to fund their Aiming High and Study Group programs, which works with some 350 students across Hume every year.
Aiming High provides talented, but disadvantaged youth with specialist support to achieve outstanding results in VCE, via a two-year program of professional tutoring and study skill development. Working with 30 young people each year, the free and award-winning program has a strong focus on mentoring, personal development and career immersion excursions to aid Hume’s young people to fulfil their academic potential.
Melbourne Airport is also proud to support Banksia Garden’s Study Groups – providing after-school academic and wellbeing support 4 days a week to students from prep to year 10 (and increasingly their families)!
Delivered within their Broadmeadows and Meadow Heights Neighbourhood Houses in Melbourne’s northwest, the program runs from 3:45 – 5:30pm and includes personalised reading/ writing/mathematics support as well as range of creative, physical expression and sustainability focused activities for students to choose from each day. Banksia Garden’s program managers work with teachers from local schools, to develop individualised support and enrichment programs for every young person.
Delivered free of charge, this exceedingly popular program also provides a non-intimidating and accessible entry point for young people to access a large range Banksia Gardens’ support services.
