We’re continuing major works as part of Naarm Way Stage 2, a new road network designed to make access to Melbourne Airport easier in the future. While construction continues, there will be some changes to access and traffic conditions around the airport this week.

Please allow extra time for your journey and follow detour signs and staff directions on site.

Daytime Changes

1A. Off-airport buses, groups and charters (Carriageway 2)

Partial lane closure and adjoining footpath/No Parking zone closed from 3–12 December. Pedestrian detours in place

1B. Public Pick-up Lane 1 (Carriageway 3)

Off-peak lane closures Mon–Thurs from 2–17 December and Saturdays 6 & 13 December. Two bays and No Parking zones closed until mid-December. Pedestrian detours in place.

Nighttime Changes

1C. Public Pick-up Lane 2 (Carriageway 4)

Lane closures 7–12 December and 15–17 December (Tues–Fri). Ten bays closed until early 2026 for bridge construction.

2. Lift Upgrades – Works continue until March 2026. Two lifts remain operational in each lobby.

3. Access to Levels 3–6 – Take front lifts to Level 2, then follow signs to the rear lift lobby.

4. PARKROYAL Access – Level 2 access and the entrance from the terminal side remain closed. Follow detour signage via T123 Car Park Ground Floor to use the central PARKROYAL lifts.

5. Bay Closures – Around 2,400 bays remain closed.

6. Car Rental Returns – Temporary Changes – Entry via Centre Road until mid-2026. Centre Road exit closed until August 2026.

7. Arrivals Drive – Reduced to three lanes until end of 2025.

8. Pedestrian Access from Value Car Park – Temporary detour until March 2026.

9. Departures Drive (T1 End) – Single lane closure until December 2025.

10A. Terminal Drive – Single lane closure 11 December, 10pm–5am.

10B. Terminal Drive – Full closure with detour via Francis Briggs to access the forecourt 11 December, 11pm–4am.

11. Access remains closed.

12A. Northbound slow lane closure. 8–10 December, 10pm–5am.

12B. Northbound contraflow onto the southbound carriageway. 8–10 December, 10pm–4am.

13. Daytime lane closure on the Tullamarine Freeway on-ramp. 11 December, 9am–3pm.

14. Ongoing upgrades to support the future third runway. Expect intermittent lane closures and delays.

16A. Citybound lane closure between APAC Drive and Mickleham Road until March 2026. Lanes reopen 12 December – late January 2026 for the holiday period.

16B. Airport-bound lane closure
Between Mickleham Road and Mercer Drive until March 2026. Lanes reopen 12 December – late January 2026.

• Staff are available in the forecourt to assist.
• Allow up to 60 minutes of additional travel time due to detours, delays, and extended walking routes.
• For faster pick-ups, consider using the Terminal 4 Pick-Up Area to avoid congestion at T1, T2 & T3.
