We’re continuing major works to deliver Naarm Way Stage 2 – a new road network designed to improve access to Melbourne Airport. This means there will be some disruptions around the airport this week. Please check this list so you can plan ahead.

Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times.

To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups.

Please refer to the map below, where each impact is labelled with a corresponding number for easy reference.

1. Lane 1 closure from 1am – 4am on 19^th and 20^th of August. 

a. Skybus services: Last departure time to be confirmed before each closure.
b. Uber and Taxi (T1 & T2 ranks): Temporarily relocated to Lane 3.
c. Qantas and Value Car Park Buses: Operating from Lane 2.
d. T2 Arrivals seating area closed during works.

2. Lift Upgrades: Continue until March 2026. Two of the three lifts remain operational in each lobby

3. Access to Levels 3–6  
Take the front lifts to Level 2, then follow the signs through the car park to the rear lift lobby to continue to Levels 3–6.

4. Parkroyal Access: Access from Level 2 is closed. Please access via lifts at the central ground floor lobby instead.

5. Bay Closures

• 20 bays permanently closed on each of Levels 1–6 (4 new lifts under construction).
• 580 bays temporarily closed on Level 2 (former Premium Valet area).
• 150 bays permanently closed on Level 2 ( new pick-up zone works)
• 560 bays permanently closed on Level 3 (new drop-off zone works).

6. Car Park Exit: Level 3 –1 outer exit ramp fully closed until early October 2025 — follow detour signage for exit via internal ramps.

7. Car Park Entrance: Single Lane reduction in place until October 2025.

8. Car Rental Returns Entry/ Exit:

• Entrance access remains via Centre Road.
• Centre Rd Exit closed from 21 August.

9. Arrivals Drive: Reduced to three lanes.

10. Pedestrian Access from Value Carpark: Pedestrian detour between Value Car Park and terminals.

11. Departures Drive (T1 End): Reduced to one lane until December 2025.

12. Triple Lane closure on Arrival Drive: 10th –20th August, 11pm–4am.

13. Naarm Way Ramp (from Tullamarine Freeway): One lane closed

14. Grants Road: Grants Road: Lane closures and detours from 28th July – 5th September and access changes to Novotel Hotel and T4 commercial bus operators for construction of a new pedestrian crossing.

• Day works: Mon–Fri 7am–7pm, Sat 8am–3pm.
• Night works: Mon–Sat 10:30pm–6am.

15. Access Closed

• No access during works.

16. Nightly Double fast lane closures (both directions) near Holiday Inn: 10pm–4am. 

17. Melbourne Airport is making changes to Sunbury Road at the north of the airport. These roadworks are in preparation for construction of the third runway, to allow for safe entry and exit of trucks and vehicles onto airport land.

• Staff are available to assist in the forecourt area.
• Please allow up to 60 minutes of additional travel time due to detours, delays, and extended walking routes.
• For quicker pick-ups, use Terminal 4 Pick-Up Area to avoid congestion at T123.

To support the next stage of Naarm Way Stage 2 construction, there will be significant overnight road works impacting Departures Drive and the Naarm Way Ramp. Please allow extra travel time and follow all signage and detours.

Arrival Drive – Night Works

Road works will occur overnight between 11:00pm and 5:00am on the following dates:

• 14 – 20 August: Three lanes closed on Arrival Drive
• 25 August: Full closure of Arrival Drive – detours in place
• 26 August – 8 September: Three lanes closed on Arrival Drive

Naarm Way Ramp – Full Closure

The Naarm Way ramp will be fully closed during the following times to allow for the safe removal of an overhead gantry sign:

• 10:00pm Tues 21 October – 5:00am Wed 22 October
• 10:00pm Wed 22 October – 5:00am Thu 23 October
• 10:00pm Thu 23 October – 5:00am Fri 24 October

Contingency plans will be in place in case weather delays the works. During this period:

• Access to Terminal Parking will be via the Ground Floor of the Terminal 4 Car Park
• Terminal 4 Pick-Up & Drop-Off will be redirected to the Terminal 1, 2 & 3 Forecourt
• Premium Self Park Terminal 4 will be redirected to the Premium Self Park Terminal 1, 2, 3

Centre Road – Full Closure

Centre Road will be fully closed in both directions overnight for four consecutive nights to allow for essential works:

• 10:00pm Mon 8 Sept – 4:00am Tue 9 Sept
• 10:00pm Tue 9 Sept – 4:00am Wed 10 Sept
• 10:00pm Wed 10 Sept – 4:00am Thu 11 Sept
• 10:00pm Thu 11 Sept – 4:00am Fri 12 Sept

Detours will be in place during these times.
