Overview
There are disruptions due to construction work around Melbourne Airport. Please check this list so you can plan ahead.
Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times.
To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups.
Please refer to the map below, where each impact is labelled with a corresponding number for easy reference.
T123 Forecourt
1A. Lane 1 – 21st – 24th May 01:00-04:00: Full closure of both lanes - diversions in place:
- Skybus: no expected impact to Skybus services (closures occur outside of operating hours).
- Uber &Taxi: T1 & T2 ranks redirected to Lane 3 (public pick-up area).
- Qantas Staff & Value Car Park Bus: T1 & T2 stops redirected to Lane 2 (off airport and groups and charters pick-up area).
- T2 Arrivals Hall :seating area closed.
1B. Lane 2 – Group & Charter Buses
- 21st – 24th May, 21:00–05:00: One lane closed overnight.
1C. Lane 4 – Public Pick-Up
- 21st – 23rd May, 11:00–15:00: Both lanes closed. Public redirected to Lane 3.
1D. Departures Drive (in front of Terminal 2)
- 21st – 24th May, 21:00–05:00: One lane closed overnight in front of Terminal 2.
T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park
2A. Levels 1–6: 20 bays permanently closed on each level for lift construction.
2B. Level 1: 20 bays temporarily closed for VHA boom gate works.
2C. Levels 2–6 Access: Enter via ramp from Level 1 (Main entrance ramp remains closed).
2D. Level 2: 580 bays temporarily closed (former Premium Valet / Premium Self-Park area).
2F. Level 3: 260 bays permanently closed for new drop-off zone works.
3. Car Park Exit: Three boom gates operational. Overnight lane closures from 23:00–04:00.
4. Car Park Entrance: New entrance ramp in operation.
5. Car Rental Returns: Access via Centre Road.
Terminal Drive / Arrivals Drive / Departures Drive
6. Arrivals Drive: Reduced to three lanes. Forecourt Lanes 2, 3, and 4 now exit via the Melbourne Drive.
7. Pedestrian Access: Detour in place between Value Car Park and Terminals.
8. Departures Drive: Reduced to one lane at the T1 end (near Melbourne Drive). Works ongoing through to December 2025.
T4 Terminal Car Park
9. Naarm Way Ramp: One lane remains closed on the ramp from Tullamarine Freeway to T4 Terminal Car Park.
Centre Road
10. Bonney Court & Centre Road: 20th – 22nd May 00:00-04:00: Closure of Centre Rd slip lane and median.
Business Carpark
11. Access: No access during this period.
Melbourne Drive
12. 20th – 22nd May 22:00-05:00: Double Lane closures across Southbound and Northbound Centre Rd – only two lanes closed per carriageway at any one time.
Upcoming Road Works – Departures Drive & Naarm Way Ramp Closures
To support the next stage of Naarm Way Stage 2 construction, there will be significant overnight road works impacting Departures Drive and the Naarm Way Ramp. Please allow extra travel time and follow all signage and detours.
Departures Drive – Night Works
Road works will occur overnight between 11:00pm and 5:00am on the following dates:
- 2 – 6 June: Lane closures on Centre Road, Departure Drive, and Bonney Court
- 15 – 18 July: Full closure of Departure Drive
- 22 – 23 July: Full closure of Departure Drive
- 23 – 25 July: Two lanes closed on Departure Drive
- 28 July – 1 August: Two lanes closed on Departure Drive
Naarm Way Ramp – Full Closure
From 11:00pm on 8 July to 5:00am on 9 July, the Naarm Way Ramp will be fully closed for the removal of an overhead gantry sign.
During this time:
- Access to Terminal Parking will be via the Ground Floor of the T4 Car Park
- T4 Pick-Up & Drop-Off will be redirected to the T1 T2 T3 Forecourt
- Premium Self Park will be redirected to the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park

- Assistance is available for passengers in the forecourt area.
- Plan for up to 30 minutes of additional travel time to account for potential delays.
- For smoother pick-ups, use the T4 pick-up area to avoid congestion in the T123 forecourt.
