We’re continuing major works to deliver Naarm Way Stage 2 – a new road network designed to improve access to Melbourne Airport. This means there will be some disruptions around the airport this week. Please check this list so you can plan ahead.

Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times.

To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups.

Please refer to the map below, where each impact is labelled with a corresponding number for easy reference.

1. Lane 1 closure from 1am – 4am on 1^st, 6^th, 7^th, 8^th and 9^th of August.

• Skybus last departure to be confirmed prior lane closure.
• Uber and Taxi T1 & T2 ranks temporarily relocated to Lane 3
• Qantas and Value Car Park Buses moved to Lane 2
• T2 Arrivals seating area closed under work zone.

2. Lift Upgrades: Continue until 8^th August. Two of the three lifts remain operational in each lobby.

3. Access to Levels 3–6: Use the rear lifts for direct access to higher levels, or Take the front lifts to Level 2, then follow the signs through the car park to the rear lift lobby to continue to Levels 3–6.

Note: Front lifts only travel between Ground and Level 2. They no longer provide access to Levels 3 and above due to new drop-off zone works.

4. PARKROYAL Access: Level 2 access to PARKROYAL is closed.  Access via the central ground floor lobby of the T123 car park

5. Bay Closures

Levels 1–6: 20 bays permanently closed on each level for lift installation.

Level 2: 580 bays temporarily closed (former Premium Valet area).

Level 3: 560 bays permanently closed for new drop-off zone work.

6. Car Park Exit: Four boom gates remain operational. Daytime lane closures are in place from 8:00am to 3:00pm. The exit ramp between Levels 3–2 is closed until late September 2025 – please follow detour signs.

7. Car Park Entrance Lane reduction: Single Lane reduction on entry ramp until October 2025.

8. Car Rental Returns: Access remains via Centre Road.

9. Arrivals Drive: Reduced to three lanes.

10. Pedestrian Access: Detour remains between Value Car Park and terminals.

11. Departures Drive (T1 End): Reduced to one lane – works continue through December 2025.

 12. Triple Lane closure on Arrival Drive. 4^th –7th August, 11pm–4am. All vehicles detour via temporary pavement.

13. Naarm Way Ramp: One lane closed on ramp from Tullamarine Freeway.

14. Naarm Way Off-Ramp Lane Closures: Nightly off-ramp lane closures until 8th August (8pm–6am).

15. Grants Road: Lane closures and detours from 28th July – 5th September.

• Day works: 7:00am – 7:00pm (Mon–Fri) & 8:00am – 3:00pm (Sat).
• Night works: 10:30pm – 6:00am (Mon–Sat).

16. Access Closed

• No access during this period.

17. Southbound: Centre Road to Airport Drive – Single Lane closure 6 August (7am–5pm). Double lane closure 10am–3pm.

18. Double Fast Lane closures Northbound and Southbound: at Holiday Inn, from 22 July, 10:00pm to 4:00am

• Staff are available to assist in the forecourt area.
• Please allow up to 30 minutes of additional travel time due to detours, delays, and extended walking routes.
• For quicker pick-ups, use Terminal 4 Pick-Up Area to avoid congestion at T123.

To support the next stage of Naarm Way Stage 2 construction, there will be significant overnight road works impacting Departures Drive and the Naarm Way Ramp. Please allow extra travel time and follow all signage and detours.

Departures Drive – Night Works

Road works will occur overnight between 11:00pm and 5:00am on the following dates:

• 4 – 7 August: Three lanes closed on Arrival Drive
• 11 – 14 August: Thress lanes closed on Arrival Drive
• 15 August: Full closure of Arrival Drive – detours in place
• 18 – 19 August: Thress lanes closed on Arrival Drive
• 20 August: Full closure of Arrival Drive – detours in place

Naarm Way Ramp – Full Closure

The Naarm Way ramp will be fully closed during the following times to allow for the safe removal of an overhead gantry sign:

• 10:00pm Wed 22 October – 5:00am Thu 23 October
• 10:00pm Thu 23 October – 5:00am Fri 24 October
• 10:00pm Mon 10 November – 5:00am Tue 11 November

Contingency plans will be in place in case weather delays the works. During this period:

• Access to Terminal Parking will be via the Ground Floor of the Terminal 4 Car Park
• Terminal 4 Pick-Up & Drop-Off will be redirected to the Terminal 1, 2 & 3 Forecourt
• Premium Self Park Terminal 4 will be redirected to the Premium Self Park Terminal 1, 2, 3
