We’re continuing major works to deliver Naarm Way Stage 2 – a new road network designed to improve access to Melbourne Airport. This means there will be some disruptions around the airport this week. Please check this list so you can plan ahead.

Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times.

To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups.

Nighttime changes

1A. Taxi, Uber & SkyBus (Carriageway 1) – From 28 October, partial restrictions will be in place nightly between 9pm–1am, followed by full-lane closures from 1am–4am. Intermittent diversions will occur during these hours. Please follow on-site signage and staff directions.

Daytime changes

1A. Taxi, Uber & SkyBus (Carriageway 1) – Four bays closed at Terminal 2 until 28 November, with a pedestrian detour via the T2 Arrivals Hall. Travellers can use the T1 or T4 Taxi/Uber ranks to avoid disruption.

1B. Off-airport buses, groups and charters (Carriageway 2) – Sections of footpath and No Parking zone closed until 28 November. Pedestrian detours in place.

1C. Public Pick-up Lane 2 (Carriageway 3) – Afternoon off-peak lane closure on 30 October. Two bays and No Parking zone closed until 28 November. Pedestrian detour in place.

1D. Public Pick-up Lane 1 (Carriageway 4) – Afternoon off-peak lane closures from 21–30 October. Ten bays closed until early 2026 for bridge construction.

Night works

1E. Public Pick-up Lane 2 (Carriageway 3) – Closed 1am–4am. Use Lane 1 during these times.

2. Lift upgrades – Continuing until March 2026. Two lifts remain open in each lobby.

3. Lobby and stair access (T3-side) – Closed 14–29 October. Follow detour via the car rental offices.

4. Access to Levels 3–6 – Take front lifts to Level 2, then follow signs to the rear lift lobby.

5. PARKROYAL access – Closed from Level 2. Use ground floor central lifts instead.

6. Bay closures – Approximately 2,200 bays closed during works.

7. T123 Car Park entrance – Single-lane access until December 2025.

8. Car rental returns entry/exit – Enter via Centre Road, exit via the T1 end (Centre Road exit closed).

9. Arrival Drive – Reduced to three lanes.

10. Pedestrian access from Value Car Park – Temporary detour in place.

11A. Departure Drive (T1 end) – One-lane operation until December 2025.

• Triple lane closures between 11pm–4am (Monday 20 & Tuesday 21 October).
• Double lane closures between 10–11pm.
• Single lane closures between 11am–3pm (except Fridays/weekends).

12. Access Closed – Access remains closed during works.

13. Roundabout works near Mercer Drive and Francis Briggs Road – Staged lane closures and contraflow arrangements between 29 September and 24 October (9pm–4am).

14. Westbound closures –

• Full closure 14–15 October (7pm–4am), detour via Francis Briggs Road.
• Single-lane closure 28–30 October (10am–5pm).

15A. Northbound single-lane closure – 28 October (10pm–4am), short stop/hold traffic at rental returns.

15B. Intersection Lane closures – 14 October (11:59pm–4am), vehicle and pedestrian detours in place.

16. Lane closure on corner of Melbourne Drive and Centre Road – 30 October, between 10am–4:30pm.

17. Sunbury Road upgrade – Works continue in preparation for the future third runway. Expect intermittent lane closures and delays. Stay updated via the link below.

18. Closed from 15 October (7am) until late October 2025 between Airport Drive and Mercer Drive. Detour: Follow Mercer Drive to Terminal Drive to reach T4 Car Park and T4 Pick-up/Drop-off.

19. Full closure of MLS – 20–21 October (10pm–4am). Vehicles detoured via the forecourt. Public pick-up/drop-off for T4 via the forecourt.

• Please allow up to 60 minutes of additional travel time due to detours, delays, and extended walking routes.
• For quicker pick-ups, use the Terminal 4 Pick-up Area to avoid congestion at T123.
