We’re continuing major works as part of Naarm Way Stage 2 — a new road network designed to make access to Melbourne Airport easier in the future. While construction continues, there will be changes to access and traffic conditions around the airport.

Please allow extra time for your journey and follow detour signs and staff directions on site.

Daytime Changes

1A. Off-Airport Buses, Groups & Charters (Carriageway 2)

• Partial lane closure, with sections of footpath and No Parking zones closed.

• 3–12 December

• Pedestrian detours in place.

1B. Public Pick-Up Lane 1 (Carriageway 3)

• Off-peak lane closures Monday–Thursday, 15–17 December.

• Two bays and No Parking zones closed until mid-December.

• Pedestrian detours in place.

Nighttime Changes

1C. Public Pick-Up Lane 2 (Carriageway 4)

• Night lane closures 15–17 December.

• Ten bays closed until early 2026 for bridge construction

2. Lift Upgrades 

Lift upgrade works continue until March 2026. Two lifts remain open in each lobby.

3. Access to Levels 3–6 

Take the front lifts to Level 2, then follow detour signs to the rear lift lobby.

4. PARKROYAL Access 

• Level 2 access and access from the terminal side are closed. 

• Follow detour signage to enter via the T123 car park ground floor using the dedicated central PARKROYAL lifts.

5. Bay Closures 

Approximately 2,400 bays closed.

6. Car Rental Returns Entry & Exit 

• Entry: Via Centre Road until mid-2026. 

• Exit: Centre Road exit closed until August 2026.

7. Arrivals Drive

Reduced to three lanes until the end of 2025.

8. Pedestrian Access from Value Car Park

Temporary detour in place until March 2026.

9. Departures Drive (T1 End)

Single lane closure continuing until December 2025.

10. Access to the Business Car Park remains closed

11. Ongoing Upgrades 

Works continue to prepare for the future Third Runway. Expect intermittent lane closures and delays.

12. Daily Lane Closures 

Slow lane closures between the Naarm Way on-ramp and Centre Road intersection from 10am–5pm daily.

13A. Citybound Lane Closure 

Fast lane closed between APAC Drive and Mickleham Road until March 2026.

13B. Airport-Bound Lane Closure 

Lane closures between Mickleham Road and Mercer Drive until March 2026. Lanes will reopen 12 December – late January 2026 during the holiday period.

• Staff are available in the forecourt to assist.
• Please allow up to 60 minutes of extra travel time due to detours, delays, and extended walking routes.
• For quicker pick-ups, consider using the Terminal 4 Pick-Up Area to avoid congestion at T123.
