    Community investment

We are committed to working with, supporting and fostering the development of our local communities via the Melbourne Airport Community Fund.

The Fund has a strong focus on supporting improved educational, employment and environmental outcomes – within the communities immediately surrounding Melbourne Airport.

We are proud to work with the following community and environmental organisations.

    • Western Chances

Scholarships for local students. We’re delighted to be funding 500 scholarships to help young people achieve their academic and careers goals, as part of three year partnership with Western Chances valued at $440,000. Melbourne Airport has proudly supported Western Chances since 2008, as it supports students from the City of Melton, Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Wyndham and Hobsons Bay.

    • Cross Cultural Volunteering

A community volunteer program to enrich the lives of adult migrants and refugees living in Melbourne's northwest. Working within Organ Pipes National Park - just 4km away from Melbourne Airport, the program works to improve the waterway health and biodiversity, while assisting participants with their language and social skills.

    • School Scholarships

Congratulations to the 16 new recipients of the Melbourne Airport/ Banksia Gardens Community Services transition to Year 7 scholarships! Spread across four local primary schools, Bethal and Coolaroo South Primary School have recently joined the program, which supports high-potential students and their families with the costs of books, technology and uniforms.

    • Community Grants

$100,000 of Community Grants have been awarded to 10 local Neighbourhood Houses to support change-making education and employment programs in Melbourne’s northwest. Hundreds of new migrants and disadvantaged youth will benefit from the grants, which support proven programs such as homework clubs, parent-friendly English classes, train the trainer workshops and tailored employment programs for those experiencing a disability.

    • Banksia Gardens Community Services

Tutoring & scholarships for Hume’s youth people. Proudly located in the heart of Broadmeadows, Melbourne Airport supports nearly 150 students every week via the Study Group and Aiming High afterschool programs, as well as scholarship programs running with four local primary schools.

    • Conservation Volunteers

Habitat for the Eastern Barred Bandicoot. In a program positioned on the back fence of the Airport (at Woodlands Historic Park), we have partnered with Conservation Volunteers to develop and maintain a predator-proof sanctuary for the Eastern Barred Bandicoot – Victoria’s most endangered mammal.

    • Salvation Army

Melbourne Airport has partnered with the Salvation Army for more than 13 years, inviting them to sing carols inside our terminals and to accept the loose coin donations from travellers. This partnership funds the provision of crisis and supported accommodation in Jacana - just on the airport's doorstep.

    • Rural China Grouped Small Hydro Project

Moving towards carbon neutrality. To offset the greenhouse gas emission created by Melbourne Airport’s vehicles and staff flights, we support the hydro project located near our sister airport in China – Chengdu International Airport.
