Terminal projects updates

Overview

Unlike many other airports, Melbourne Airport houses all four terminals under one roof. This provides convenience for travellers and operational advantages for airlines.

We are carefully planning incremental enhancements of terminal facilities, and you will soon see more improvements to our terminals.

The following terminal upgrades are currently underway.

New baggage system for International (T2) terminal

Melbourne Airport is increasing the capacity and capability of its international baggage system.

Duty Free Expansion

Melbourne Airport and Lotte are working together to refurbish and expand the Terminal 2 Arrivals Duty Free store.

Terminal 2 Departures toilet facilities upgrade

Terminal 2 (T2) Amenities are being upgraded throughout departures. The new amenities will improve the traveller experience whilst creating a more inclusive range of facilities for travellers.

Terminal 2 Arrivals toilet facilities upgrade

The T2 Amenities Project will see the upgrade of amenity blocks across Terminal 2 Arrivals and Departures. A new large amenity will be constructed in the Terminal 2 Arrivals Concourse and will contain Female, Male, Accessible and All Gender toilets. A new Parents Room will also be constructed in this area for arriving travellers.

Terminal 4 landside toilet facilities upgrade

The T4 Landside Amenities Project will see the construction of new amenities and the redevelopment of existing facilities across Terminal 4 Landside.

Baggage hall upgrade for Virgin Australia (T3) terminal

The Virgin Australia baggage hall upgrade will streamline baggage collection with expanded space, new carousels, and enhanced facilities.

Qantas (T1) retail upgrade

Stage 2 of the T1 retail upgrade is currently underway, focusing on enhancements to the walkway leading to Gates 1-12.

New security screening for Qantas (T1) terminal

We are upgrading security screening in Terminal 1 (Qantas Domestic). The new body and baggage screening technology will mean an easier security experience for passengers.
