Holidaymakers can now kick-back and enjoy local independent beer at Australia’s first airport brewery, run by Stomping Ground Brewing Co, located in Terminal 3 at Melbourne Airport.
Each year up to 30 different beers will be brewed on-site, so frequent travellers can experience new styles every time they travel.
The 330m2-venue, with views of the airfield, is modelled on Stomping Ground’s Collingwood Beer Hall featuring 24 draught beers and six draught wines on tap.
Tasting paddles plus takeaway tinnies are also on sale, and passengers of all ages can dine-in and enjoy meals from the extensive menu developed by Stomping Ground’s Executive Chef, Ben Isaacs.
Melbourne Airport Chief of Retail Andrew Gardiner said the brewery is part of the airport’s efforts to create a sense of place at the airport.
“There’s huge demand for craft beer in Melbourne so the decision to open a brewery made sense, and we’re proud to be the first airport in Australia, and fourth airport in the world to launch the unique concept,” said Mr Gardiner.
“We are focused on bringing Melbourne’s iconic culinary scene to the airport and this latest development showcases inner-city Melbourne at its best.”
Stomping Ground co-founder Justin Joiner said “We're incredibly excited to be representing Melbourne’s thriving independent brewing scene, and joining some of the city’s best food and drink operators at our own airport."
"The enjoyment of tasting different styles of beer is behind the explosion of interest in local breweries. We’ll be tapping new beers most weeks so there could well be a new beer added between when you depart and arrive home!”
Leading global hospitality company Delaware North partnered with Stomping Ground Brewing Co on the new brewery.
Delaware North’s Managing Director, Gary Brown, added, “Delaware North is thrilled to be partnering with Stomping Ground Brewing Co on their exciting new brewery and beer hall in Melbourne Airport. This fantastic concept further enhances the excellent range of authentically-Melbourne dining and drinking options already available to passengers at Melbourne Airport, and provides travellers with a unique taste of the city’s outstanding food and craft beer scene.”
Collaborating again with the designers behind Stomping Ground’s original Collingwood brewpub, Studio Y, and featuring large murals from local artist Justine McAllister, the venue will be open 5am - 9.30pm every day with a full restaurant and bar menu.
