Car parks are busy

ALL car parks are very busy this week, with limited drive-up spots available. Please consider alternative transport options. Please have your QR code ready for a smooth entry and exit. Our roads and car parks may have changed since your last visit. Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times. Learn about the Naarm Way Stage 2 project to plan ahead: https://www.melbourneairport.com.au/plan-ahead. To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups. Thank you for your patience.

Victorians are returning to the skies in growing numbers and to help them take flight, Melbourne Airport is partnering with nearby councils to link local jobseekers with hundreds of employment opportunities.

A total of 2,516,836 people travelled through the airport in July, including 1,934,746 domestic passengers, the highest domestic figure recorded since January 2020.

Demand for international travel continues to surge, with 582,072 passengers passing through Melbourne Airport’s customs halls in July, up 25% on the 464,926 people processed in June.

The airport continues to invest in improve its customer experience, and today opened a new connection between Terminals 3 and 4 which will transform the way Virgin Australia passengers move through the airport.

Work is also underway to upgrade the Qantas terminal and construction teams are making good progress on the first stage of the airport’s elevated roads project, which will give people a faster trip from the freeway.

Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus said rebuilding the workforce remained the biggest short-term challenge for aviation, but nearby communities are well positioned to benefit from the resurgence in travel.

“Melbourne Airport is one of the largest single-site employment hubs in the state, with thousands of different roles across the airlines, ground handlers, ground transport, retail, maintenance and other contractors,” she said.

“The airport is an exciting place to work where no two days are the same, and we want to connect people living in the surrounding suburbs with some of the amazing opportunities made possible by aviation’s recovery.

“After partnering with Brimbank Council to stage a jobs fair at Sunshine in May, we’ve now teamed up with Hume Council to stage another event in Broadmeadows.

“Across the precinct we have hundreds of vacancies to fill, and this is an opportunity for job seekers to meet directly with potential employers for roles that help keep the country moving.”

The Hume Jobs Fair will be held at Broadmeadows Town Hall on 18 August. Registrations are essential at https://www.hume.vic.gov.au/Eventbrite/Melbourne-Airport-Jobs-Expo-390783864057
