All car parks at Melbourne Airport are sold out today. If you don't have a booking, consider alternate forms of transport to come to the airport. If you do have a booking, allow extra time to find a spot and have your QR code ready for a smooth entry. If you have an existing car park booking, please arrive 30 minutes earlier than usual and have your QR code ready for a smooth entry and exit. Due to ongoing construction in the Terminal 1,2,3 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times if you are being dropped off by a loved one, taxi or Uber. To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, which is a 10-minute walk to and from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups. Thank you for your patience while we are building your airport.

Melbourne Airport unveils plans for its International Arrivals Hall

Melbourne Airport’s International Arrivals Hall is set to undergo a major refurbishment to cater to the airport’s growing international passenger numbers. 
 
The multi-million dollar upgrade includes a significant expansion of the dwelling area with a larger link connecting Terminals 2 and 3, additional seating and escalators, an improved outdoor taxi pickup zone and greater wayfinding, in addition to repositioned hospitality. 
 
Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Andrew Gardiner said traveller growth was the driving force behind the project. 
 
“Melbourne Airport’s passenger numbers are growing rapidly, especially in the international traveller market leading us to the International Arrivals Hall expansion, which will future-proof the airport for continued growth,” said Mr Gardiner. 
 
“On an average day almost 16,000 people pass through the Arrivals Hall making it an extremely busy space and numbers are only going to rise.  
 
“The refurbishment is going to create a more spacious and inviting environment for our travellers while providing better connectivity to the rest of our terminal building.” 
 
Mr Gardiner said the airport’s recent financial year passenger figures revealed international travellers peaked at 11.4 million, up 5.4 per cent on the last financial year. 
 
“Our passenger data shows the international market is the fastest growing segment out of Melbourne and we want to support that growth by enhancing the overall passenger experience.” 
 
Works on the Arrivals Hall expansion will commence this week and during construction, the main entry to the Hall will close. People are encouraged to access the Arrivals Hall from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 instead.  
 
During construction, the airport’s Long Term Car Park shuttle bus and SkyBus will pick-up travellers in front of Terminal 1 instead of directly in front of Terminal 2.  
 
The Arrivals Hall expansion will be complete at the end of 2020.
