The car parks and roads at Melbourne Airport are very busy this week

All car parks at Melbourne Airport are very busy this week and booking out fast. If you don't have a booking, consider alternate forms of transport to come to the airport. If you do have a booking, allow extra time to find a spot and have your QR code ready for a smooth entry. Please note access to the Terminal 4 Car Park via the Naarm Way ramp has fully reopened. You can now drive straight from the Tullamarine Freeway via Exit 19A with no detours required. Due to ongoing construction in the Terminal 1,2,3 car park pick up and drop off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times if you are being dropped off by a loved one, taxi or Uber.  Thank you for your patience while we are building your airport.

Melbourne Airport has installed moving walkways inside Terminal 4, in response to overwhelming feedback from domestic holidaymakers.

The multi-million dollar equipment, switched on today, aims to ease the walk for passengers from check-in to boarding.

Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Andrew Gardiner said the airport is focused on improving the traveller experience and hoped the infrastructure upgrade would deliver a great outcome for passengers.

“We know a lot of our travellers feel the walk along Pier G is too long, so we have added the travelators to reduce stress on passengers that may have difficulty walking long distances,” said Mr Gardiner.

“Airports can be stressful environments and we are determined to invest in making the entire passenger journey from the freeway to runway as easy and comfortable as possible.”

The moving walk technology, provided by thyssenkrupp Elevator, is known as iwalk and the company’s Victorian NI/MOD Sales Manager, Rahebul Hasan said iwalk establishes a new industry benchmark.

“The modular space-saving concept facilitates planning, integration and operation without compromising usability. With the pit-less floor mounted option, the iwalk is ideal for existing structures as per this Terminal 4 project.”

“For passengers travelling with luggage and trolleys, it offers greater safety and comfort and the iwalks can be reversed to suit inbound and outbound passenger movement. Fewer components and low energy consumption complete this sustainable product’s ground-breaking engineering.”

Melbourne Airport is also expanding its bathroom amenities inside Terminal 4, which will be open before Christmas.
