Talking this season’s trends with Lotte Duty Free

General Manager of Lotte Duty Free, Robert Godino, gives us the latest scoop on what trends to look out for this autumn, and the products people are reaching for on Lotte’s shelves at Terminal 2.

The story of local luxury fragrance label Goldfield & Banks is one that captures the essence of Australia’s stunning landscapes and lush botanical beauty. A top pick for an every day fragrance is Pacific Rock Moss, an aquatic and fresh perfume that reminds me of the beautiful vibrant blue waters on Australia’s coastline.

Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee is a heady whiskyinspired fragrance where floral sophistication meets woody depths. It’s an intoxicating scent to wear at night, infused with smooth natural whisky absolute and crafted in Grasse using aromatic barley from a refined Scottish distillery.

“An alluring and sophisticated scent that I love to wear on special occasions, from day to night.”

Luxury skincare products continue to trend remarkably well, with brands like Aesop, SKII, La Mer and Helena Rubinstein promising to deliver this season. A consistently popular product is SKII’s Facial Treatment Essence, the skincare brand’s signature and most awarded bestseller.

It repairs skin through anti-oxidation and revitalises to keep skin soft and smooth, minimising the appearance of pores and fine lines.

Aesop’s Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser and Geranium Leaf Body Balm are proving to be popular, both found in the Geranium Leaf Duet. Established in Melbourne in 1987, Aesop is a wonderful story of local Australian luxury skincare produced at a world-class standard. The key ingredients in both products are geranium leaf, mandarin rind and bergamot rind, which leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Australian craft spirits and wine deserve to be celebrated, and the appeal of these products is extensive – from customers wanting to purchase the perfect gift or try something new, right through to the most distinguished connoisseurs purchasing to expand their collection.

Autumn is the perfect time to rekindle your love affair with a Whisky Sour, and Starward’s Red Wine Barrel Aged Whisky offers a great twist on this classic cocktail. Crafted right here in Melbourne, it's simply made with premium whisky, freshly squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, bitters, egg white and a delicious float of red wine.

Tarkine Single Malt is produced by Tasmanian distillery Lawrenny, a place where the barley grains are grown on the farm and water is sourced from the freshwater river that flows through the property. Tarkine has a rich flavour taken from its maturation in ex-port casks with the influence of native Tasmanian Huon Pine. Bottled for travel retail at 50% ABV, it’s a great example of the quality whisky that’s coming out of Australia.

Penfolds’ St Henri Shiraz 2018 is rich and plush when young, gaining soft, earthy, mocha-like characteristics with age. It’s my favourite wine to celebrate with family and friends.

Lotte partners with many local and global alcohol brands, collaborating with them to secure rare and exclusive bottles fit for all liquor lovers.

Currently available exclusively instore at Melbourne Airport is the Melbourne Travellers Gin, made in collaboration with Applewood Distillery at their Gumeracha winery in the Adelaide Hills. It’s the perfect gift to celebrate Melbourne, produced with native currants, yuzu, lemon-scented eucalypt and karkalla.

You’ll also find the Benriach Triple Distilled 22 Year Old Whisky, created following 22 long years of maturation in sherry, bourbon and virgin oak casks. The result is a complex fruit and oak masterpiece, with rich layers of caramel mocha and morello cherry, overlaid with a mellow nutty elegance and the richness of orange peel, red apple and date.
