Overview

Airport parking should be simple, especially if you have accessibility needs. That’s why Melbourne Airport is rolling out new upgrades to make your journey smoother. From more accessible parking bays to better drop-off areas and a simpler refund process for carers, here’s what’s changing and how you can plan ahead.

Where To Find Accessible Parking Spaces at Melbourne Airport

No one wants to waste time searching for a parking space that actually works for them. The good news? Melbourne Airport has made it easier. Whether you need a short walk to check-in or a smoother drop-off, here’s where you’ll find the latest accessible parking options.

Value Car Park

The Value Car Park is an open-air car park with dedicated accessible bays near shuttle bus shelter A for easier transfers. A wheelchair-friendly shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes, 24/7, connecting you to all terminals. The shuttle stops at Terminal 4 (best for travellers flying domestically with Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways, or Virgin Australia) and at Terminal 1 (best stop for travellers flying domestic with Qantas, or for all international airlines). Just make sure to factor in a little extra travel time when planning your journey.

This car park has a height clearance of 3.3 metres, which should be able to accommodate most vehicles. Online rates start from $12 per day. During peak travel periods, Value Express is available. This valet-style service operates from the same Value Car Park and includes 24/7 shuttle bus access to the terminals.

Terminal Car Parks

If you need accessible parking with direct access to the terminal entrances, the Terminal Car Parks are the best option. Available at two locations (T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park and T4 Terminal Car Park), these parking areas provide easy access to Terminals 1, 2, and 3 via a covered link bridge, and are 100 metres away from Terminal 4.

Our Terminal Car Parks have dedicated accessible bays, positioned close to lifts with wide doors, low-height controls, and Braille panels. The height clearance is 2.20 metres.

  • For travellers flying from Terminal 1 (Qantas domestic), park in the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park, Row M.
  • Terminal 2 (international) and Terminal 3 (Virgin Australia domestic) are best accessed from Row F of the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park.
  • The T4 Terminal Car Park is best suited for those travelling domestic airlines, including Jetstar and Rex, with accessible bays located near the lifts on Level 2.

Online rates for Terminal Car Parks start from $49 per day. The best part? The first 15 minutes of parking are free if you park here, making it convenient for quick pick-ups and drop-offs.

Premium Self-Park

Premium Self-Park offers dedicated undercover parking with wider bays and priority lift access for an easier route to check-in. Located on Level 1 of both the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park and T4 Terminal Car Park, it provides a short, covered walk to the terminals with no need for shuttle transfers. Travel time is approximately 2-4 minutes to Terminals 1, 2, and 3 (from the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park) and about a 2-minute walk to Terminal 4 (from the T4 Terminal Car Park).

The height clearance is 2.20 metres, accommodating most vehicles. Pre-booking online is recommended, with online rates starting from $79 per day.

Premium Valet

For accessible parking with no need to park yourself, Premium Valet parking offers the easiest way to get from your car to check-in. Located on Level 1 of the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park, it provides drive-up service—simply pull in, hand over your keys, and head straight to the terminal. No need to search for a space, walk long distances, or navigate a car park.

Our Premium Valet parking service operates 24/7 with customer support is available if you need additional help. Rates start from $79 per day when pre-booked online.

Carer Airport Parking Fee Refunds

If you're assisting someone with a Companion Card, you shouldn’t have to worry about parking costs. Melbourne Airport offers a full parking fee refund for carers who park while helping a passenger with accessibility needs.

Here’s how to claim your refund:

  1. Park in any Melbourne Airport car park while assisting a Companion Card holder.
  2. Keep your parking receipt—you’ll need it to apply for a refund.
  3. Submit your refund request online by filling out the form on our Parking Refunds page. Just upload a copy of the Companion Card and your receipt.

Refunds take a little time to process, so it’s best to submit your request as soon as possible. If you have any questions, our Parking Customer Service team is happy to help. Carers do so much to support others—this is just one way we can support you.

Need Special Assistance?

If you need help getting to check-in or from the airport terminal to your ride, Kerbside Assistance and Terminal Assistance are available. Booking ahead means staff will be ready when you arrive.

  • Kerbside Assistance helps you move between drop-off zones, check-in counters, and baggage claim areas. This service runs 24/7 but should be booked at least 24 hours in advance by calling Melbourne Airport’s Customer Concierge Team at +61 3 9297 1318.
  • Terminal Assistance is provided by airlines and includes help through check-in, security, boarding, and baggage collection. Contact your airline before you travel to arrange this service.

Booking special assistance in advance helps make your journey smoother, so you can move through the airport with ease. It would also help to check Melbourne Airport’s Online Mobility Hub to know more about accessibility facilities.

How To Pre-Book Airport Parking Online

When you book parking online, you get savings compared to drive-up rates. Plus, all online bookings come with a grace period, giving you extra flexibility if your plans change. If your stay is under four hours, you’ll get a one-hour grace period before and after your booking time. For bookings longer than four hours, the grace period extends to two hours on either side.

Here’s how you can book disabled parking in advance:

  1. Go to Melbourne Airport’s Parking page.
  2. Select your entry and exit times. You can book parking up to 12 months in advance.
  3. Choose your preferred parking option (Value Car Park, Terminal Car Park, Premium Self-Park, or Premium Valet Car Park).
  4. Consider extras like Overstay Guarantee, helpful if your return plans change unexpectedly.
  5. Complete your booking by paying via a credit card, debit card, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. You’ll then receive a QR code for entry.

Even with a grace period, it’s a good idea to allow extra time for road delays and disruptions around Tullamarine. For more details, check the FAQs or contact our friendly customer service team.
