Overview

Heading off on a long trip and wondering how long you can leave your car at the airport? If you’re booking one of Melbourne Airport’s Value Car Parks online, a single booking can cover up to 45 days. Need to stay longer than that? Give our parking customer service team a call, and they’ll help get you sorted.

In our Value Car Parks, you can park for up to 90 days, a month longer than the 60-day limit at our other car parks. Both the Value North Car Park and the Value South Car Park are open-air car parks built for short and long stays. They run on a flat daily rate, so a fortnight away costs the same per day as a long weekend.

Why Park in the Value Car Parks for a Long Trip?

The Value Car Parks offer the most budget-friendly onsite parking options at Melbourne Airport. Booking online also means you get the best available parking rate at the time of booking, which can change as your travel date approaches.

  • It’s the cheapest onsite parking option we offer, with a flat daily rate that makes it a practical choice for longer trips.
  • A free shuttle bus runs 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes, so it suits early-morning departures and late-night landings.
  • The courtesy buses for each Value Car Park run different routes. The Value North Car Park bus serves all terminals. It stops at Terminal 4 (Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways), with Terminal 3 (Virgin Australia) a short walk away, and at Terminal 1 (Qantas), with Terminal 2 (international flights) close by. The Value South Car Park bus runs straight to the T4 Transport Hub, which is also close to Terminal 3.
  • Both car parks are open-air with a 3.3 metre height clearance, so getting in and out is simple, even in a taller vehicle.
  • Accessible Parking is available at both locations, with bays closest to Bus Shelter A in the Value North Car Park and Bus Shelter J in the Value South Car Park. Just display a valid Accessible Parking Permit.

Both Value Car Parks are easy to reach via Exit 18 off the Tullamarine Freeway. The Value North Car Park has entrances on Airport Drive and Mercer Drive, and the Value South Car Park has entrances on Airport Drive and Francis Briggs Road.

What’s the Maximum Time You Can Park at the Value Car Parks?

With Value Parking, how long you can park depends on how you book, since online bookings and driving up work under different limits.

  • An online booking covers stays of up to 45 days, the same cap across all our car parks. If your trip falls within that, book online ahead of time.
  • Drive up and pay the drive-up rates at the gate, and there’s no 45-day cap.

So what’s the outer limit? At the Value Car Parks, you can park for up to 90 days, as set out in our Parking Terms and Conditions. Need to park even longer than that? A quick word with us before you go sort it.

How Long Before Your Trip Can You Book Value Parking?

You can book online up to 12 months out, or as late as 2 hours before you arrive. For a long trip in particular, booking as early as possible is the smart move. You’ll usually land a better rate and more availability than if you leave it until the day you travel.

  1. Pick your entry and exit dates and times, then select the airport terminal you’re flying from. That sets which Value Car Park you can book.
  2. Add a promo code if you’ve got one, then tap on ‘Continue to pricing’.
  3. Choose Value North or Value South from the options shown.
  4. Add any extras like the Overstay Guarantee.
  5. Pay the parking fees by credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, with no booking or card fees added.

After booking, we’ll email you a QR code. Save it to your phone, and that’s your way in and out. Scan it at the boom gate when you arrive, then again when you leave. If the scanner plays up or you just want a hand, there’s a HELP button right at the gate that connects you straight to our customer service team, any hour, day or night.

What If Your Plans Change After You Book Parking?

Travel plans rarely run to the minute. That’s why all online bookings come with a grace period built in. That’s an hour either side of your booked times for a stay under four hours, and two hours either side for anything longer.

For the trips where a hold-up could be longer, there’s the Overstay Guarantee. If you added it when you booked parking, it can cover extra parking charges if your flight is cancelled with no replacement, a border closes, or you’re ill and can’t fly back on time.

Bigger change on the cards? You can manage bookings online through the My Bookings page. If you haven’t parked yet, you can move your entry time right up until two hours before you’re due to arrive and just pay the difference. Already parked the car and need a few more days? You can extend your stay on the same page online any time before your booked exit.

Save on a Long Stay and Book Parking Online

To save on parking costs for a long trip, leaving your car at Melbourne Airport’s Value Car Parks is the easy call. They’re the cheapest onsite parking we offer, and the daily rate stays the same however long you’re away.

But Value Parking isn’t the only way to park onsite. Our Terminal Car Parks and Premium Car Parks have self-parking bays closer to the terminals. If you’d rather hand the keys over to the valet team, book Melbourne Airport Valet or Qantas Valet. Both are located on Level 1 of the T123 Car Park.

Across our long-term and short-term parking options, booking ahead is the move that always pays off. Whichever you land on, sort it on the Melbourne Airport Parking & Transport page and lock in your rate before you fly. Want to save even more?
