Overview
Meeting someone off a Rex flight in from the regions, or grabbing a mate landing on Jetstar? Come off the Tullamarine Freeway at Exit 19 Naarm Way, and you’re straight into the T4 Transport Hub, where the Pick Up and Drop Off zones for Terminal 4 are. T4 Pick Up is on Level 1, while T4 Drop Off is on Level 2.
Only there to park for your own flight instead? That’s a separate trip. Take that same Exit 19 Naarm Way for the T4 Car Park, or continue on to Exit 18 for the Value Car Parks, which run a free 24/7 bus into the T4 Transport Hub every 15 minutes.
What is the T4 Transport Hub?
The T4 Transport Hub is Melbourne Airport’s dedicated building for Terminal 4 passengers, covering Pick Up, Drop Off and onsite parking all in one place. It’s been running since 2023, when it opened as the first stage of the Naarm Way project.
Through the T4 Transport Hub, Terminal 4 gets its own direct link off the Tullamarine Freeway via Exit 19, rather than the older route through Terminal Drive.
Inside, the T4 Transport Hub is made up of four parts:
- T4 Pick Up, where you collect an arriving passenger, on Level 1.
- T4 Drop Off, where you drop off a departing passenger, on Level 2.
- T4 Terminal Car Park, a multi-level self-parking option with a mix of undercover and open-air bays.
- T4 Premium Car Park, undercover parking on Level 1 in the bays closest to the terminal entrance, for the shortest walk in.
Which airlines use the T4 Transport Hub?
Melbourne Airport’s Terminal 4 is home to Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways. If your passenger is on a Jetstar domestic hop, a Rex flight or a Link Airways service, the T4 Transport Hub is where you’re headed to pick up or drop them off.
Here’s one thing that trips people up, though. Virgin Australia flies out of two terminals at Melbourne Airport. Most of their flights go from Terminal 3, but a few leave from Terminal 4, so knowing your passenger is on Virgin Australia doesn’t actually tell you where to drive.
Have a quick look at the terminal printed on their booking before you set off. Virgin Australia from Terminal 4 means you want the T4 Transport Hub. If it’s a Virgin Australia flight from Terminal 3, head to the T123 Transport Hub instead, the separate hub that covers Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Where do I go for T4 Pick Up and T4 Drop Off?
At the T4 Transport Hub, the Pick Up area sits on Level 1 and the Drop Off area sits on Level 2. T4 Drop Off stays in the same spot no matter how you’ve arrived, but T4 Pick Up depends on how your passenger is actually getting collected.
- Collecting someone in your own car? Head up to Level 1.
- Waiting on a taxi, an Uber or another rideshare service? They pick up down on the Ground Level, not Level 1.
- Catching a Skybus ride instead? It has its own kerbside stop right outside Terminal 4.
The Terminal 4 Drop Off and Pick Up have a one-minute standing time. Need longer than that? Head to the T4 Terminal Car Park where drive-up customers can park for free for 15 minutes.
Landed early with time to spare? The free Wait Zone on Mercer Drive is just off the freeway, with the first 60 minutes free. Park up and sit tight until your passenger is actually ready to be collected.
Catching your own Terminal 4 flight instead? Book parking online at the T4 Car Park. The T4 Terminal Car Park is a multi-level mix of open-air and undercover bays, while the T4 Premium Car Park is fully undercover and in the bays closest to the entrance.
When do you use the T123 Transport Hub?
You’ll head to the T123 Transport Hub instead of the T4 Transport Hub when your passenger is flying Qantas, jetting off overseas, or catching a Virgin Australia flight out of Terminal 3.
Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 passengers all funnel into that one hub. You reach it via the same Exit 19 Naarm Way off the Tullamarine Freeway, then follow the signs for the T123 Transport Hub rather than Terminal 4.
Quick gut check before you leave the house:
- Qantas, an international flight, or Virgin Australia from Terminal 3? That’s the T123 Transport Hub.
- Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways, or a Virgin Australia flight from Terminal 4? Stick with the T4 Transport Hub.
Getting the terminal right actually matters here. The T123 Transport Hub runs its own T123 Pick Up on Level 2 and its own T123 Drop Off on Level 3. It also has its own T123 Terminal Car Park and T123 Premium Car Park, separate from the T4 Terminal Car Park and T4 Premium Car Park.
Plan your drive to the T4 Transport Hub
Meeting someone off a Jetstar, Rex or Link Airways flight, or a Virgin Australia service that happens to leave from Terminal 4? Collect them from Level 1, or drop them off on Level 2 of the T4 Transport Hub.
If you or the person you’re collecting could use a hand getting around, Melbourne Airport Assist can arrange buggy transfers and wheelchair support at the T4 Transport Hub. Run in partnership with Travellers Aid, this service operates seven days a week from 6 AM to 10 PM. Starting 6 October, it will be available 22 hours a day (3am to 1am).
You’ll also spot our Experience Ambassadors in their pink jackets moving around the terminals, so flag one down if you need pointing in the right direction. Not sure which way to go at the fork? Use our journey planner to help map your drive in by terminal.
