Overview

Pricing up your trip and wondering what the Value Car Parks will cost? At Melbourne Airport, they’re the most budget-friendly onsite parking option we offer. Both run on a flat daily rate, so the price per day stays the same however long you’re away. If you book online, you lock in the best available rate at the time of booking. But what that rate is depends on your dates and how far ahead you book.

Both the Value North Car Park and Value South Car Park sit right in the airport precinct, just off Exit 18 from the Tullamarine Freeway. They’re open-air, long-term car parks, each with a free 24/7 shuttle bus that runs to the terminals every 15 minutes. Parking rates can change as your travel date gets closer, so booking earlier can usually mean a better rate.

How Much Does It Cost to Park in Value North or Value South Car Park?

The Value North and Value South Car Parks run on the same flat daily rate, the lowest of any onsite option at Melbourne Airport. Book further ahead or stay longer, and the daily rate can dip lower still.

If your trip falls within the next 12 months, you can book parking online today.

  1. Click the gold ‘Parking’ button in the top-right corner.
  2. Enter your entry and exit dates and times, and pick the terminal you’re flying from.
  3. Type in a promo code if you’ve got one, then continue.
  4. Scroll through the parking options that appear and look for Value North and Value South.

The Value South Car Park only shows if you’ve selected Terminal 3 or Terminal 4. This process is the easiest way to compare the Value Car Parks against our other onsite options.

If you’d rather be closer to the gates, terminal parking across our Terminal Car Parks puts you a short walk to check-in, while our Premium Car Parks offer the closest self-parking bays. If you prefer valet service, Melbourne Airport Valet and Qantas Valet take parking off your hands altogether.

What Makes the Value Car Parks the Best Budget Choice for Long-Term Parking?

For a long trip, Melbourne Airport’s Value Car Parks are the best budget parking option onsite because they have the lowest daily rate. For that rate, both Value North and Value South come with the same set-up.

  • You get a flat daily rate, meaning the price per day doesn’t climb the longer you park. There are no tiered short-stay rates either, so short-term parking is charged at the same daily rate as a long trip.
  • No transfer to pay for on top of your parking. A free bus runs to the terminals 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes.
  • Free 24/7 bus service to the terminals. Each Value Car Park bus runs a different route. The Value North Car Park bus stops near Terminal 4 for Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways, with Virgin Australia from Terminal 3 close by and near Terminal 1 for Qantas, with Terminal 2 for international flights a short walk away. The Value South Car Park bus runs straight to the T4 Transport Hub, which suits those heading to Terminal 4 and Terminal 3.
  • Both car parks sit inside the airport precinct, so your car stays on Melbourne Airport grounds the whole time. That means there’s no off-airport transfer to arrange for either leg of your trip.
  • There's 3.3 metres of height clearance, so an SUV, 4WD or campervan fits without bumping you up to a pricier car park for the room.
  • Accessible Parking is available. All onsite car parks have Accessible Parking. In the Value Car Parks, the bays sit closest to Bus Shelter A in the Value North Car Park and Bus Shelter J in the Value South Car Park. Display a valid Accessible Parking Permit to use it.

Is Booking Value Parking in Advance Cheaper Than Driving Up?

Usually, yes. When you book online, your rate is locked in the moment you book. Often, that can be lower than the drive-up rates you’d pay at the gate on the day. There are no booking fees or card fees added on top, either, so the total you see at checkout is the total you pay.

Booking online ahead of time brings a few other cost advantages that driving up doesn’t.

  • Every online booking includes a grace period at no extra cost. That's an hour either side of your booked time for stays under four hours, and two hours either side for longer stays. With this buffer, a slightly late arrival or return won't usually tip straight into extra charges.
  • You can add the optional Overstay Guarantee when you book. This add-on can cover overstay charges if your return is delayed by something outside your control, such as a border closure, an airline flight cancellation or a physical illness.

Worried that booking early ties you to plans that might still shift? It doesn't. You can manage your booking online through the My Bookings page. There, you can change your dates or cancel up to 2 hours before you're due to arrive or extend your stay before your booked exit.

When Is the Best Time to Book Value Parking for the Best Rates?

As early as you can. Online bookings open 12 months before your flight, and the rate may be lower the further ahead you book. So the moment your flights are confirmed is usually the moment to sort your parking. Left it late? You can still book online right up to 2 hours before your arrival.

Once your booking goes through, your confirmation email arrives with a QR code attached. Use it to enter and exit the car park, not a credit card. If you tap a card instead, even on a booking you’ve already paid for, the system will read you as a drive-up customer.
