Overview

Melbourne Airport’s Value Car Parks are our most budget-friendly onsite parking option, with two locations to choose from. The Value North and Value South Car Parks are both open-air and include a free bus service to the terminals. So if both options look similar at first glance, how do you choose which one fits your trip?

Whether you’re flying interstate for work or heading overseas for a longer trip, both car parks suit travellers who want to keep parking costs down. The choice usually comes back to one simple thing: which airport terminal are you flying from? The Value North Car Park’s free bus stops outside Terminals 1 and 4, with a short walk to any terminal from there. The Value South Car Park bus runs directly to the T4 Transport Hub, making it the better fit for travellers flying from Terminal 4 and Terminal 3.

Why Park at Melbourne Airport's Value Car Parks?

If you want to keep parking costs down without leaving the airport precinct, our open-air Value Car Parks are the right call. They're Melbourne Airport’s most affordable onsite self-parking options, easily reached via Exit 18 off the Tullamarine Freeway, and include a free bus service to the terminals.

Frequent flyers from Victoria and around the country who park here regularly keep coming back for the same reasons.

  • There are no external transfers to organise. Both airport car parks sit within the Melbourne Airport precinct, so your car stays on airport grounds for the whole trip.
  • The free bus service runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, so early morning departures and late-night arrivals are both covered.
  • The parking rates are the lowest among Melbourne Airport's onsite options, and they're a flat rate. That means the same daily rate applies whether you park for a few hours or a few weeks.
  • Accessible Parking is available in both Value Car Parks, positioned closest to Bus Shelter A in Value North and Bus Shelter J in Value South. You only need to display a valid Accessible Parking Permit to use these bays. The shuttle buses are also wheelchair friendly.
  • With a 3.3-metre height clearance, both Value Car Parks can accommodate SUVs, 4WDs and campervans without issue.

What's the Difference Between Value North and Value South Car Parks?

The key difference between the Melbourne Airport Value North and Value South Car Parks lies in which terminals their free bus service serves. The Value North Car Park gives you easy access to all four terminals, with bus stops near Terminal 1 and Terminal 4. The Value South Car Park bus runs directly to the T4 Transport Hub, which suits Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 travellers best.

Beyond the bus routes, the two car parks also differ in how you get there and what's on offer during peak travel periods.

  • The Value North Car Park serves all four terminals. There are 7 bus shelters throughout the Value North Car Park. The bus stops near Terminal 1 for Qantas domestic flights, with Terminal 2 a short walk away for international flights. Flying Jetstar, Rex or Link Airways? Hop off at the Terminal 4 stop. If you’re flying Virgin Australia, get off at the same Terminal 4 stop, and walk to Terminal 3 from there.
  • The Value South Car Park runs directly to the T4 Transport Hub. The Value South Car Park has one bus stop located at Bus Shelter J. From there, it's a direct ride to the T4 Transport Hub, with drop-off at Bus Lane 1, Bay 3. Terminal 4 is right there for Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways passengers, and Terminal 3 is a short walk for Virgin Australia passengers.
  • Getting to the Value Car Parks. Both Value Car Parks are reached via Exit 18 off the Tullamarine Freeway. The Value North Car Park has entrances on Airport Drive and Mercer Drive, while the Value South Car Park is accessible via Airport Drive. Before you leave home, check Google Maps or our car park maps for ongoing road delays and disruptions around the precinct to find the best route in.
  • Getting back to your car park after you land. Parked at the Value North Car Park? If you landed at Terminal 1 or 2, the pick-up point is directly outside Terminal 1. Arrived at Terminal 3 or 4? Head outside Terminal 4, next to the SkyBus stop and look for the orange Value North Car Park signs. To get to the Value South Car Park, exit the terminal and turn right. Walk to the T4 Transport Hub and follow the signs to pick-up at Bus Lane 1, Bay 3.
  • Accessible Parking at both car parks. Both Value Car Parks offer Accessible Parking on a ‘first-come, first-in’ basis. There are 89 Accessible Parking spaces at Value North Car Park, positioned closest to Bus Shelter A, and 10 at Value South Car Park, closest to Bus Shelter J. You'll need to display a valid Accessible Parking Permit to use either.

Which Value Car Park Should You Book Based on Your Trip?

The decision comes down to one thing: your terminal. The Value North Car Park covers Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, so if you're flying Qantas domestically or heading overseas, park here. For Terminal 3 and Terminal 4, both car parks have you covered, and your airline is what makes the call.

  • Flying Qantas domestically from Terminal 1? Book Value North Car Park. Hop on, and you'll be dropped right at Terminal 1.
  • Flying internationally from Terminal 2? Book the Value North Car Park. Jump on the bus, and you'll arrive at Terminal 1, with Terminal 2 a short walk from there. Allow a few extra minutes for the walk if you're travelling with bags to check in.
  • Flying Virgin Australia from Terminal 3? You can choose either Value Car Park option. The Value South Car Park is the slightly easier option, with fewer bus stops to make. The bus runs straight to the T4 Transport Hub, and Virgin Australia check-in is a short walk from there. If you'd rather park at Value North, hop off at the Terminal 4 stop, and Terminal 3 is a short walk away.
  • Flying Jetstar, Rex or Link Airways from Terminal 4? You can't go wrong with either. The Value South Car Park's bus runs directly to the T4 Transport Hub, right outside Terminal 4. Value North also stops at Terminal 4. Same rate, same free bus. Go with whichever works best for you.

Hopped on the wrong bus? Stay on. If you're headed to the Value South Car Park but ended up on the Value North Car Park bus, ride to Terminal 4, get off, turn left and follow the signs to the Value South Car Park bus at the T4 Transport Hub. If it's the other way around, stay on the Value South Car Park bus to the T4 Transport Hub, get off and walk towards Terminal 4. The Value North Car Park bus picks up right outside, next to the SkyBus stop.

Do You Need to Book Value Parking in Advance?

No, you don't need to book parking in advance. You can drive up to either of the two Value Car Parks and pay for parking with a credit card or a mobile wallet, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. But online bookings come with a handful of real advantages worth knowing about before you decide.

  • You pay less. Online rates are better than drive-up rates. Book up to 12 months before you fly, and you're already saving before you've left home.
  • You get more choice. While individual Value Car Park spots aren't bookable, booking online means you can compare options from Value North and Value South and choose the one that suits your trip before you leave home. Drive up on the day, and you're working with whatever's left available.
  • You get a grace period on both ends. Pre-booking your parking comes with a grace period built in. Book for under 4 hours, and you get an hour on either side of your booked time. Book parking for over 4 hours, and it stretches to 2 hours on either side. This means you can arrive a little early or leave a little late and not pay extra.
  • You can add the Overstay Guarantee. When you book parking online, you can add the Overstay Guarantee for a small upfront fee. If your return is delayed due to a cancelled flight, border closure or illness that prevents you from travelling, it covers any extra parking charges. Approved refunds are processed within 14 working days.
  • You can amend or cancel if your plans change. Need to shift your dates? You can update or cancel your booking on the My Bookings page up to 2 hours before you arrive. You can also extend your stay online through the same page anytime before your booked exit time.
  • You get in and out easier. Once you've paid online, you'll receive a Parking QR code in your confirmation email. Scan it at the entry gate on the way in and at the exit gate on the way out. No ticket required.
