Overview

Planning a trip takes a little more thought when you have accessibility needs. Whether you’re driving yourself or assisting someone else, how close you can park and how easy it is to reach check‑in can shape the whole experience. It helps to know what your options are before you arrive.

At Melbourne Airport, we offer a range of onsite parking options to support smoother access from the car park to the terminal. With accessible parking bays positioned across all car parks and a parking refund available for carers, you can plan your arrival with more clarity and less guesswork.

Where Can You Find Wheelchair Accessible Parking at the Airport?

Getting to the terminal shouldn’t be hard work. That’s why Melbourne Airport offers accessible parking options across all car parks, making it easier to move from your car to check-in.

To help choose what fits your trip, here’s what to expect from each of our onsite parking options:

  • Value Car Park: This the most cost-effective option if you’re away for a longer trip and prefer to stay onsite. You’ll find accessible parking bays near Bus Stop A, and from there, you can take the wheelchair-friendly shuttle bus to the terminals, which runs every 15 minutes, 24/7. The free shuttle stops at Terminal 1 and Terminal 4, so whether you're flying domestic with or heading overseas, you're never far from where you need to be. Disembark at Terminal 1 if you’re flying Qantas domestic or internationally, or at Terminal 4 if you’re flying domestically with Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways or Virgin Australia.
  • Value Express: Travelling during peak travel periods like school holidays? You can book Value Express online or upgrade on arrival (depending on availability). It's a seasonal valet parking service at the Value Car Park where you leave your car at the Value Express zone near Bus Stop B, take the shuttle to your terminal, and we park your car for you.
  • Terminal Car Parks: If you're looking to park closer to the terminals and avoid the shuttle bus, the Terminal Car Parks are a solid option. There are two locations offering access to the terminals. The T123 Terminal Car Park links to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via a covered bridge, while the T4 Terminal Car Park is just 100 metres from Terminal 4. Both have accessible parking bays near the lifts, with wide doors, low-height controls, and Braille panels.
    • Flying Qantas domestic from Terminal 1, internationally from Terminal 2, or with Virgin Australia from Terminal 3? The new Accessible Parking Area on Level 2 of the T123 Terminal Car Park is launching soon. In the meantime, DDA bays are available on Levels 4, 5 and 6 at Rows H and K next to the lifts.
    • Flying from Terminal 4? Accessible bays are on Level 1 (Rows B and C) and Level 2 (Rows B, C and D) of the T4 Terminal Car Park.
  • Premium Car Parks: For those with accessibility needs, the Premium Car Parks offer dedicated undercover parking spaces with wider bays and priority lift access. Located on Level 1 of both the T123 and the T4 Terminal Car Park, it’s a short distance from the terminal entrances with no need for shuttle bus transfers.
  • Melbourne Airport Valet: Prefer not to park the car yourself? Melbourne Airport Valet offers the simplest way to get from your car to check-in. Located on Level 1 of the T123 Terminal Car Park, it’s a straightforward drive-up service where you just pull in, hand over your keys, and head straight to the terminal without needing to search for a space or walk far. On arrival, you can also ask our Valet staff about car wash services, so you can return home to a clean car.
  • Qantas Valet: Want to park closest to Terminal 1 and earn Qantas points while you’re at it? Qantas Valet offers the closest handover point to the terminal. It’s located on Level 1 of the T123 Terminal Car Park, right beside the terminal entrance. You don’t need to book here. Just drive in, leave the keys with the valet team and walk a short distance to check-in. This service is open to all travellers, not just Qantas passengers. Plus, those parked here can also request a car wash while they’re away.

How Does the Carers Parking Fee Refund Work?

If you’re assisting someone with a Companion Card, Melbourne Airport offers a full parking fee refund when you park while supporting a traveller with accessibility needs.

Here’s how you can claim your refund:

  1. Park in any Melbourne Airport car park while assisting a Companion Card holder.
  2. Keep your parking receipt.
  3. Submit a refund request online by uploading your receipt and a copy of the Companion Card.

Refunds can take a little time to process, so it’s best to submit your request as soon as possible. If you need help, our Parking Customer Service team is here to assist.

How Do You Arrange Special Assistance?

If you need help getting to check-in or from the airport terminal to your ride, Kerbside Assistance and Terminal Assistance are also available.

  • Kerbside Assistance helps you move between drop-off zones, check-in counters, and baggage claim areas. It’s available 24/7, but we recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance by calling our team on +61 3 9297 1318.
  • Terminal Assistance is provided by airlines and includes help through check-in, security, boarding, and baggage collection. Contact your airline before you travel to arrange this service.

For more planning support, check the Online Mobility Hub. It includes maps, guides and more info on accessibility facilities to help you move through the airport more confidently.

Plan Your Trip Right By Pre-Booking Airport Parking

Booking online is the simplest way to find the parking option that suits your trip. All online bookings give you access to lower parking rates than drive-up rates, plus a built-in grace period on either side of your booking.

Here’s how to pre-book disabled parking online:

  1. Go to Melbourne Airport’s Parking page.
  2. Select your entry and exit times. You can book parking up to 12 months in advance.
  3. Choose your preferred parking option.
  4. Add extras like the Overstay Guarantee if you need more flexibility.
  5. Pay online and receive a QR code for entry.

Even with a grace period, it’s a good idea to allow extra time when you’re travelling, especially during peak periods. There are also ongoing road delays and disruptions around Tullamarine, which can add up to 30 minutes to your travel time.
