Overview

The 2025 AFL season means plenty of fans flying across the country to watch their teams in action. With big matches ahead, the last thing you want is to waste time worrying about parking.

Fortunately, Melbourne Airport's on-site parking options put you close to the airport terminals. Plus, you get the best rates when you book parking online. With several car parks available, which one fits your trip?

Airport Parking for Footy Fans Flying Out of Tullamarine

There’s nothing like watching AFL live, and if you’re flying out to catch a game, you need airport parking that gets you to your flight on time. Need a budget-friendly spot, something closer to your terminal, or a valet service? Here’s what’s available:

Value Car Park

Flying out to watch your team isn’t cheap, so why spend more on parking than you need to? The Value Car Park is the most affordable option at Melbourne Airport, giving you a low-cost parking option while keeping you close to your terminal.

It’s just off Airport Drive, with a free shuttle service running every 15 minutes, 24/7 to get you where you need to be. The shuttle bus stops at Terminal 4 (best for travellers flying domestic with Jetstar, Rex, or Link Airways, or Virgin Australia from Terminal 3) and at Terminal 1 (best for travellers flying domestic with Qantas from Terminal 1, or internationally from Terminal 2). With plenty of space and a 3.3m clearance, it’s a solid choice if you’re driving something a little bigger.

During peak travel times, you can also upgrade to Value Express. Simply drive up to the designated Value Express area, and the valet team will park it for you.

Terminal Car Parks

Don’t like rushing to your gate like it’s the fourth quarter? Park right near check-in at one of our Terminal Car Parks. You’ll be right next to the terminals, so you can park and get going in no time. Available in two locations:

  • If you're flying Qantas, Virgin Australia, or an international airline, choose the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park. You can walk straight to Terminals 1, 2, and 3 via a covered link bridge.
  • If you're with Jetstar, Rex, or Link Airways (or can walk a little further to Terminal 3 for Virgin Australia), T4 Terminal parking is only 100 metres from the entrance—easy.

Just dropping someone off? The first 15 minutes are free at both Terminal parking locations, so there’s no need to loop around while you wait.

Premium Parking

Our Premium parking offers the closest parking options at Melbourne Airport, giving you a faster, easier start to your trip. With undercover parking and just a two-minute walk to the terminals, you’ll be on your way in no time. Whether you prefer to self-park or let someone else do the parking, there’s an option for you.

With Premium Self-Park, you’ll be right near check-in. Park up, grab your bags, and go—no detours, no waiting. Available in two locations:

  • At Level 1 of the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park - best for Qantas domestic, International, or Virgin Australia domestic flights; and
  • At Level 1 of the T4 Terminal Car Park - best for domestic flights with Jetstar, Rex, and Link Airways.

Want to make it even easier? Premium Valet does the work for you. Just pull up, hand over your keys, and head straight to check-in while our valet staff parks your car. That means less time parking and more time getting to the game!

Qantas Valet Parking

Some things should be simple, like parking. Whether you're running late or just want the quickest way to park, Qantas Valet parking makes it easy. Just drive up, give the valet staff your keys, and walk straight to Terminal 1.

You'll find it on Level 1 of the T1 T2 T3 Terminal Car Park and is open daily from 5 AM to 1 AM. In case you’re wondering, yes, it’s available to all travellers, not just Qantas passengers. But the best part is that there’s no need to book—just roll up on the day of your flight. If you're a Qantas Frequent Flyer, you’ll also earn 1 Qantas Point per A$1 spent.

Book Now To Save on Melbourne Airport Parking

Booking online means you get access to lower parking rates compared to last-minute drive-up rates. Here's how to do that:

  1. To book parking, go to Melbourne Airport's Parking page, click on the ‘Parking’ button, and enter your entry and exit times.
  2. Choose the car park that best fits your trip.
  3. Pay using a debit or credit card, Apply Pay, or Google Pay.
  4. Once confirmed, you'll receive a confirmation email with your QR code—this is your key to entering and exiting the car park.

Need some flexibility? All online bookings come with a grace period, which means you get two extra hours (if you’re parking for over four hours) before and after your booked time for when things don't go exactly to plan.

If you're worried about your return flight getting delayed or cancelled, add Overstay Guarantee to your booking. With this, you'll get a refund on any extra charges if you return later than planned.

Short-Term vs. Long-Term Parking for AFL Travellers

Flying in and out for the game or making a weekend of it? Whatever your plans, there’s a Melbourne Airport parking option to match.

If you’re only away for a day or two, short-term parking at the Terminal Car Parks is your best bet. For longer trips, the Value Car Park is a great choice. If you want something closer, Premium Valet, Premium Self-Park and Qantas Valet parking offer easy access to check-in.

Want to keep up with the best parking deals? Subscribe to our Parking Deals newsletter for updates on discounts and special offers throughout the season.

Just here to drop someone off or pick them up? The pick-up and drop-off zones near every terminal make it quick and convenient. If you’re running early, the Wait Zone on Mercer Drive lets you park for free for up to 60 minutes, so you’re not circling while you wait

Need Accessible Parking?

Melbourne Airport has accessible parking facilities in every on-site car park. Lifts with wide doors, low-height controls, and Braille panels make your parking experience easier from the moment you arrive.

Designated parking spaces are available for travellers with a valid Accessible Parking Permit. If you're assisting someone with a Companion Card, you can claim a full refund on Terminal Car Park fees for stays of two hours or less, as long as proof of travel is provided.

Need extra help when you arrive? While support services are available on demand, special assistance should be booked in advance.

Don’t Let Airport Parking Ruin Game Day

Watching your team live should be about the footy, not parking. Sort your parking now, so when game day comes, all you have to think about is getting to your flight on time. A little planning goes a long way—not just with parking, but with your drive to the airport, too.

Before heading to the airport, take a moment to check for any road delays and disruptions that could slow you down. Plan ahead, so when game day comes, the only thing left to focus on is backing your team to victory!
