ALL car parks are very busy this Labour Day long weekend, with limited drive-up spots available. Please consider alternative transport options.  If you do have a car park booking, please have your QR code ready for a smooth entry and exit and allow extra time to find a spot. Our roads and car parks may have changed since your last visit. Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park Pick up and Drop off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times. Learn more about the Naarm Way Stage 2 project: https://www.melbourneairport.com.au/plan-ahead To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for Drop off or Level 1 for Pick up. Thank you for your patience while we are building your airport.

Overview

Flying from Melbourne Airport soon? If you're driving in, sorting out where you leave your car is often the next logical step. Just like booking flights and packing your bags, your airport parking experience also shapes how your trip starts and ends.

That’s why Melbourne Airport offers a range of onsite parking options to suit different travel needs. Whether you're heading off for a short work trip or a longer holiday, booking the right option for you can save time and make the day run more smoothly.

How Do You Choose the Right Melbourne Airport Parking Option?

The best way to choose the right parking option at Melbourne Airport is by matching it to the kind of trip you’re taking. That means doing a bit of planning around your terminal, timing and how you like things to run when you travel.

  • Think about how long you’ll be away. All car parks support both long-term and short-term parking. But if you’re away for several days, you might prefer an option that offers better value, even if it means a slightly longer walk or a free bus ride.
  • Know the terminal you’re flying from. Knowing where you’re flying from helps you choose an airport car park with easy access to check-in. Terminal 1 handles all Qantas domestic flights. Terminal 2 is the international terminal, while Terminal 3 is used by Virgin Australia. Terminal 4 services Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways.
  • Plan your parking around how you travel. Some want to park and move straight through to check-in, while others don't mind a slightly longer walk or transfer if it means saving a bit along the way. That decision depends on how you like to travel and how much time you're working with. Either way, booking online in advance gives you lower parking rates than drive-up rates.
  • Factor in whether you want undercover parking. Melbourne weather can change quickly, so think about whether you want your car parked under cover or out in the open. If you're not too worried about sun or rain, an open-air parking area might be fine. But if you prefer protection from the elements, Premium Car Parks, Melbourne Airport Valet, and Qantas Valet offer undercover bays.
  • Match the parking option to your trip. Different trips call for different parking needs. If you're flying solo and packing light, a quick self-park might be all you need. But if you’re travelling with kids, carrying luggage or flying out after work, a valet parking service can take one thing off your plate and get you on your way faster.
  • Check that your vehicle suits the car park. Most car parks have height limits, so it’s worth checking the clearance if you’re driving a larger vehicle. Some are better suited to standard cars, while others are more open and easier to access if you’re in a 4WD, van or with roof racks.
  • Look into accessible parking if needed. All car parks have bays reserved for passengers with a valid Disability Parking Permit. These accessible parking spaces are placed close to terminal entrances, lift areas or bus stops to make access easier.

What Are the Onsite Parking Options at Melbourne Airport?

From quick getaways to week-long breaks, there are several onsite parking options available at Melbourne Airport designed to fit whatever kind of trip you’re taking. Here’s a quick look at each one:

  • Value Car Park: This is Melbourne Airport’s most cost-effective onsite parking option. It's an open-air car park with entrances on Mercer Drive and Airport Drive, with a free bus service that runs every 15 minutes, 24/7, and stops near Terminal 1 and Terminal 4. Travellers flying Qantas domestically from Terminal 1 or departing internationally from Terminal 2 will find the Terminal 1 stop the most convenient. If you’re flying domestically from Terminals 3 or 4, including with Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways or Virgin Australia, the Terminal 4 stop is ideal.

During peak travel periods like school holidays, you can book Value Express online or upgrade upon arrival (subject to availability). It’s a seasonal valet-style option within the Value Car Park where you can drop off your car near Bus Stop B and hop straight onto the next bus. A member of our friendly staff will handle parking for you, so you don’t have to think about finding a space or remembering where you parked.
  • Terminal Car Parks: If you want to stay closer to the terminal, the Terminal Car Parks put you just a short walk from check-in. There are two onsite locations. The T123 Terminal Car Park connects directly to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via a covered link bridge, making it a convenient choice if you're flying with Qantas, Virgin Australia or heading to the international terminal. The T4 Terminal Car Park sits just 100 metres from Terminal 4 and suits travellers flying with Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways or Virgin Australia. Both locations offer short-term and long-term parking, with a mix of open-air and undercover bays.
  • Premium Car Parks: Want the closest bays to the terminal entrances? The Premium Car Parks offer prime self-park spaces on Level 1 of both the T123 and T4 Car Parks. From there, it’s just a few steps to the terminal, making it popular for families, travellers with lots of luggage or anyone wanting quicker access to check-in. This option is fully undercover and works well for early departures or warmer days when comfort and timing matter.
  • Melbourne Airport Valet: Want the quickest path from your car to check-in? Located on Level 1 of the T123 Car Park, Melbourne Airport Valet lets you drive up, hand over your keys and walk straight inside. No need to circle for a bay or carry bags further than you have to. It’s a smart choice if you're flying early, travelling with family or heading off during busy holiday periods. You can also ask the team about our optional car cleaning service, so you come home to a freshly cleaned car.
  • Qantas Valet: If you're flying Qantas, this valet service puts you closest to the Qantas domestic terminal. It's on Level 1 of the T123 Car Park, with quick handover bays that let you drive in, drop your keys and head straight to check-in. You don’t need to pre-book parking here, and the service is open to all travellers. But Qantas Frequent Flyers earn points every time they park here. There's an optional car wash if you’d like your vehicle cleaned while you’re away.

Just picking someone up or dropping them off? There are dedicated free pick-up and drop-off zones close to the terminals. If you're running early, the Wait Zone on Mercer Drive gives you up to 60 minutes of free parking, perfect for waiting while your passenger makes their way through arrivals.

Can You Change Your Parking Booking If Your Plans Change?

Yes. All online bookings are flexible. You can go to My Bookings to update your entry time up to two hours before you arrive. If you're already parked and running behind on your return schedule, you can extend your exit time and date online.

What Happens If You Arrive Earlier or Leave Later Than Planned?

All online bookings include a built-in grace period, so you’ve got some flexibility if things shift slightly. For short stays, there’s a one-hour buffer on either side of your booked entry and exit time. If you’re parking for longer than four hours, that window extends to two hours either side.

It’s also worth checking for any road delays or disruptions around Tullamarine that might affect your arrival, so you can plan your drive.

For extra peace of mind, you can add the optional Overstay Guarantee to your booking. It’s helpful if your flight is delayed by something unexpected, like an airline cancellation, a border closure or illness, and you can’t exit the car park on time. You can also extend your booking online through My Bookings.
